Role Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled Wildland Firefighter Dozer Operator to join our team at May Machinery. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our firefighting efforts, operating bulldozers and heavy equipment to create firebreaks and control the spread of wildfires. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in dynamic and challenging environments across various locations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate bulldozers and heavy equipment to construct firebreaks and control lines.

  • Clear vegetation and debris to create barriers that prevent the spread of wildfires.

  • Work closely with firefighting crews to coordinate efforts and ensure safety.

  • Monitor equipment performance and conduct routine maintenance as needed.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in operating bulldozers and heavy equipment in challenging terrain and hazardous conditions.

  • Understanding or willing to learn wildfire behavior and firefighting tactics.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.

  • Some Physical fitness and stamina to endure long hours and strenuous work conditions.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3+ years experience operating bulldozers and heavy equipment, preferably in wildland firefighting or related fields.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Certification as a Wildland Firefighter and Dozer Operator preferred not required.

  • Completion of relevant training courses in wildfire S190 and S130 preferred not required.
